Saint Sedmochislenitsi is a Bulgarian Orthodox Church in the capital Sofia, located in the garden between the streets "Tsar Ivan Shishman", "Graf Ignatiev", "September 6" and "General Parensov".
During excavations in 1901, remains of an ancient Christian temple of the V-VI century and an even older sanctuary of Asclepius were discovered.
The building was built in 1528 by Sinan as a mosque by order of Sultan Suleyman magnificent on the property of the Rila monastery with a convent.
The mosque is named Kodja Dervish Mehmed Pasha in the name of the great Vizier Sokolul Mehmed Pasha. It is believed that the architect of the mosque is the famous Sinan (the architect of Suleyman Mosque in Constantinople).
The temple became known as the Black Mosque because of the dark granite from which its minaret was made. During an earthquake in the 19th century the minaret of the mosque fell and it was abandoned.
